As the new indication is built on already available safety, pharmacokinetic, and manufacturing data, drug repurposing represents an expedited way to develop innovative medication for especially rare, difficult-to-treat, neglected diseases

The simultaneous application of computational and experimental methodologies in a systematic manner offers a robust and logical approach to the discovery of new indications, demonstrating a greater efficiency than the discovery based on serendipity
